Foley Holds Contractor Expo in Piscataway

Foley, Incorporated held their first Contractor Expo on June 4, 2009.  More than 110 contractors attended to learn about the different products and services of the exhibitors.  Plant Detectives, Storr Tractor, Sullair, Foley Rents, Brent Materials, Cat Financial, Towmaster and Clayton Concrete, Block and Sand had their own booths where they displayed products and materials.

Ryan Foley, Vice President of Foley Rents summarized, “This is the first Contractor Expo that we have held at Foley.  We think it was successful because we brought in all different types of suppliers that these customers could use and benefit from seeing them all at once.  It was a convenient for them to visit a few different ‘booths’ where they could gather information from the different trades represented and visit with their peers.  We were also able to show them the options that Foley has to help them in current economic times.  With Cat financial and the choices of leasing, renting, or buying new and used equipment, we can provide contractors with the tools to make the best decisions for their business.”

The expo was held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and offered guests a barbecue dinner consisting of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad and beverages.  There were also two machines set up for guests to operate and complete an obstacle. Guests that successfully achieved the task with the 420 E backhoe or 304C mini-excavator won a Cat hat.

Later, as guests gathered inside after dinner, Ryan Foley, vice president of Foley Rents, awarded a slew of raffle prizes worth over $7500 overall donated by the different vendors to lucky attendees. Among the giveaways were three grand prizes.

Mark Seguine of Mark Seguine Excavating won a Diamond Vantage table-top gas-powered saw with Pro Cart,. Brian Brisby of Brian Brisby Landscaping won a Trimble LL-300 laser kit, and Charles Silvestri of Tricks LLC took home a Husqvarna K750 14-in. hand held gas saw.

Russell Newberry, famed deckhand of the Time Bandit, a crab boat on the Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” series, was a special guest from Clayton Concrete, Block and Sand. He signed autographs and recounted moments of his job on the often angry waters of Alaska’s Bering Sea that are sometimes only slightly more dangerous than work in the construction industry.

By all measures, those who attended deemed the event a success. Christopher White of White Bros. Masonry summed up the expo when he said, “It’s a family-friendly environment. They [Foley Inc.] really go out their way to treat their customers well. I’ve been going to their events for a while now and I plan on coming to more. It’s just a lot of fun to see the equipment and to get together with friends.”
