Preventive Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance for Peak Performance

The best way to ensure long engine life is through preventive maintenance and using only genuine Cat® parts. Whether doing it yourself or working with an authorized Cat dealer, proper maintenance is the best way to keep your Cat truck engine running strong.

FILTERS AND FLUIDS ARE 3% OF TOTAL O&O COST AND PROTECT UP TO 50% OF FUEL AND REPAIR COSTS.

 CAT FILTERS
Just like your Cat engine performs better when you choose only genuine Cat parts, it also performs better when you choose Cat filters. Cat filters can increase injector life by 45%, and they can decrease your cost per hour up to 400% when compared to competitive filters.

CAT BATTERIES
Cat batteries give you confidence every time you start your truck, even in the most adverse environments and extreme conditions. They are manufactured to provide higher starting outputs and greater vibration resistance compared to other batteries. Cat PHO batteries pass an exclusive 100-hour vibration resistance test, while competitive batteries are tested for 18 or 36 hours.

CAT EXTENDED LIFE COOLANT (ELC™)
Give your Cat engine the ultimate protection it deserves with Cat Extended Life Coolant—or ELC. Cat ELC is formulated precisely for the exact metallurgical standards of Cat engines. With advanced metal protection, it prevents component degradation and distortion like no other brand, while extending engine life and change intervals.

EFFICIENCY & COST SAVINGS
The best way to get the most out of your equipment is by using only genuine Cat parts. That’s because every Cat truck engine is built to work as a system—and it takes genuine Cat parts to ensure that system is performing efficiently and cost effectively.

SAVING FUEL = LONGER LIFE
The life of an engine can be measured by number of liters of fuel burned. The more fuel that is saved, the longer the life. A focus on fuel consumption, oil consumption and maintenance is critical to achieve longer life.

FUEL CONSUMPTION
Fuel costs are 40% of overall costs. Contaminated fuel can create injector issues that can burn up to 12% more fuel alone. Capturing fuel savings from good maintenance can lower operating costs by 5-10%.

OIL CONSUMPTION
When oil consumption increases by 3x an overhaul is required

MAINTENANCE
Repairing your engine after failure leads to an average increase in cost of 190%. 40-60% of all engine downtime is associated with cooling system problems.
